Contest Rules

  1. Eligibility

The Type Racing Competition (Contest) is open only to students, faculty, and staff of The University of Texas at San Antonio. Must be at least eighteen (18) years old at the time of entry. Employees of the sponsor and other companies associated with the promotion of the Contest, and their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, and advertising and promotion agencies, as well as the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings, and children) and household members of each such employee, are not eligible. The Contest is subject to federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Entries must be submitted in good faith and must not contain content created by a third party or violate University policy.  

  1. Sponsor

The Contest is sponsored by the UTSA Campus Technology Store (Sponsor).

  1. Agreement to Official Rules

Participation in the Contest constitutes the entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor, which are final and binding. Winning a prize is contingent upon being compliant with these Official Rules and fulfilling all other requirements set forth herein. Sponsor may disqualify any participant from the Contest at its sole discretion. 

  1. Contest Period

The Contest entry period begins on Monday, April 15, 2024, at 8:00 AM CST and ends on Thursday, April 25, 2024 4:59 PM CST (the “Contest Period”). Entries that are submitted before or after the Contest Period will be disqualified. The winner(s) will be announced by April 26, 2024, via in-person & live streamed event.

  1. How to Enter

During the Promotion Period, eligible participants must complete the online registration form and agree to be enrolled into the Sponsor’s Loyalty Program. By consenting to the statement, “I agree to the Official Rules” of the Type Racing Contest, participant will be automatically enrolled into the Loyalty Program and will opt-in to receive marketing communications from the Sponsor. Please note that consent to enroll in the Loyalty Program is a mandatory part of entry. 

 

Once the Contest registration form has been completed, participant must visit the store located at 6906 N Loop 1604 W. Student Union 1.00.46, San Antonio, Tx 78249 to submit their entries. By entering the Contest, you represent and warrant that you will participate in good faith without the use of any 3rd party influence or aid, and will not violate University policy.

  1. Contest Prizes

The Sponsor will review all entries and select the top 2 (two) potential winners from among all eligible entries received. The 3rd place winner will be chosen by random drawing amongst all eligible entries. The sponsor will attempt to notify the potential winner via telephone or email on or before the end of the Contest Period. If the potential winner cannot be contacted within two (2) days after the date of the first attempt to contact him/her, Sponsor may select an alternate potential winner in his/her place from the remaining non-winning, eligible entries. 

  1. Winner Notification

Participants will have their entries reviewed by a judge chosen by the Sponsor on the afternoon of the last day of the contest. The potential winner(s) will be notified by email or phone. Potential winner(s) must continue to comply with all terms and conditions of these Official Rules, and winning is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements. In the event that a potential winner is disqualified for any reason, Sponsor will award the applicable prize to an alternate winner judged from all remaining eligible entries. 

  1. Prizes

1st Place: $100 in-store credit  
2nd Place: $50 in-store credit 
3rd Place: $25 in-store credit

  1. General Conditions

In the event that the operation, security, or administration of the entry is impaired in any way for any reason, including, but not limited to fraud, virus, bug, worm, unauthorized human intervention or other technical problem, or in the event the Contest is unable to run as planned for any other reason, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, either (a) suspend the Contest to address the impairment and then resume the Contest in a manner that best conforms to the spirit of these Official Rules or (b) terminate the Contest and, in the event of termination, award the prize at random from among the eligible, non-suspect entries received up to the time of the impairment. AI or any 3rd party-generated entries will not be considered and any entries that are deemed to be AI-generated, will be disqualified at the Sponsor’s discretion. Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person to damage the Contest registration or entry collection forms or undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages (including attorney’s fees) and any other remedies from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Failure by the Sponsor to enforce any provision of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision. 

Participation Guidelines:

  1. Participants will be allowed to practice on our in-store devices as many times as they would like. *Personal devices are not permitted to be used when submitting eligible entries* 
  2. Once the participant is ready to submit their entries, a store associate must be notified to record the entries. The participant will then be given 3 attempts at typing with speed and accuracy.  
  3. The attempt with the fastest WPM combined with accuracy will be recorded and added to the scoreboard.  
  4. During the final week of the competition (April 22-25, 2024) participants may visit the store to submit a second entry to the scoreboard. 
  5. Submissions will close on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 4:59pm 
  6. Winners will be chosen/announced on Friday, April 26, 2024. The 1st and 2nd place winners will be chosen by the fastest WPM combined with accuracy. The 3rd place winner will be chosen at random through an online randomizer. Everyone will have a chance to win! 
  1. Release and Limitations of Liability

By participating in the Contest, entrants agree to release and hold harmless HiEd, and each of their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, other companies associated with the Contest, and each of their respective officers, directors, employees, shareholders, representatives, and agents (the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the Contest or receipt or use of the prize (including any travel or activity related thereto). This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Any technical errors associated with the Contest, including lost, interrupted, or unavailable Internet Service Provider (ISP), network, server, wireless service provider, or other connections, availability, or accessibility or miscommunications or failed computer, satellite, telephone, cellular tower, or cable transmissions, lines, or technical failure or jumbled, scrambled, delayed, or misdirected transmissions or computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures, or difficulties.
  • Unauthorized human intervention in the Contest.
  • Mechanical, network, electronic, computer, human, printing, or typographical errors.
  • Any other errors or problems in connection with the Contest, including, without limitation, errors that may occur in the administration of the Contest, the announcement of the winner(s), the cancellation or postponement of the event and/or the flyover, if applicable, the incorrect downloading of the application, the processing of entries application downloads or in any Contest-related materials.
  • Injury, death, losses, or damages of any kind, to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant’s participation in the Contest or acceptance, receipt, or misuse of the prize (including any travel or activity related thereto).

Entrants further agree that in any cause of action, the Released Parties’ liability will be limited to the cost of entering and participating in the Contest, and in no event shall the entrant be entitled to receive attorney’s fees. The Released Parties are also not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by site users, tampering, hacking, or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the entry. Entrant waives the right to claim any damages whatsoever, including, but not limited to, punitive, consequential, direct, or indirect damages. Entrant affirms that they submit their entries in good faith to the best of their ability and without the use of 3rd party influence or aid.

  1. Disputes

Except where prohibited, each entrant agrees that any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of, or connected with, the Contest or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the appropriate court located in Texas. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation, and enforceability of these Official Rules, the entrant’s rights, and obligations, or the rights and obligations of the Sponsor in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of Texas, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules, which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than Texas.
